Active Surrey provide, or can sign post you to, quality support and professional development for teachers, teaching assistants, playground supervisors, sports coaches and other school staff.

Active Schools Members are eligible for discounts on many of the courses run.

Head teachers and PE Leads of KS1 and KS2 schools may also want to commission whole school training or gain advice on aspects of their own PE and school sport offer via our independent consultants. 

We are continually updating our training offer, virtually and face to face, most courses can be viewed on the Training section of the Surrey Educational Services Hub and booked directly on that platform. 

Consultancy services - In-depth support when it's needed

We’ve partnered with St Mary’s University and independent educational consultants to provide a comprehensive offer for PESSPA in Early Years, KS1 and KS2 settings that goes beyond the regular support offered by Active Schools membership. This support can be specifically designed to support subject leaders and head teachers to improve the quality of PE and school sport on offer.

If you wish to enhance learning opportunities within PE, physical activities and school sport, or just discuss how you can use your primary PE and sport premium to best effect, then connecting with a consultant may be the pathway to take.

Our expert consultants can offer a range of services, ranging from supporting staff to become more confident and competent in planning, teaching and evaluating curriculum PE, providing bespoke curriculum design and assessment policies to suit your school and community needs, or support schools in managing an Ofsted deep dive. Advice will always be tailored to the needs of the school and teaching staff in Early Years, KS1 or KS2 settings.

Typical services offered include:

Face to face or virtual meetings specifically designed to support subject leaders and head teachers to improve the quality of PE and school sport on offer. Advice will be tailored to the needs of the school and teaching staff in Early Years, KS1 or KS2 settings.

  • Developing a bespoke, sequenced and connected PE curriculum plan
  • Creating a whole school PE assessment model
  • Working alongside staff to plan, deliver and resource curriculum PE lessons.
  • Developing an inclusive approach to teaching and learning within PE
  • Supporting ECTs.

To begin with, an introductory meeting with Jools Pearson can be made by emailing IncPriPE@outlook.com with a brief outline of what you are looking to enhance at your school and she will get back in touch.  A short virtual meeting or phone call will be arranged to discuss the hopes / plans in more detail and find the best pathway for the school.

Training delivery options:

  • During the school day or as a Twilight
  • Half day (3 hours)
  • Full day (6 hours)

More bespoke times can be discussed and agreed with the consultants and associated costs will be based on hours agreed.
